Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band comprises John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), Mike Portnoy (drums), James LaBrie (vocals) and Jordan Rudess (keyboards).
Live at Budokan is the fourth live album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater, released on October 5, 2004, available on either 3 CDs, 2 DVDs, or 1 Blu-ray Disc. It was recorded at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan on April 26, 2004.
Prog Archives review: “This live album was recorded at the legendary Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan at the height of Dream Theater’s Train of Thought tour. It was the final show they did in Japan for the tour. Now the audio presentation) is nothing short of impeccable, with a great overall mix and a nice balance of instruments. (…) Stream of Consciousness follows with a 10 minute instrumental that goes through many motions, but is guided by a cool 5/4 motif. Petrucci’s solo on this song is incredible and Myung’s performance here is quite nice as well.”
